I emailed 2 friends, great Christian ladies, that I knew would give me SOMETHING in the way of guidance. These ladies not only knew of people who could help me, they also took it upon themselves to email these people and get me more information. Here's what I learned:
I would recommend this website http://www.citizenlink.org/ It is the "political action" side of Focus on the Family. They are involved with lots of Pro-Family issues including Pro-Life. There is lots of good information there.
In particular, clicking the tab called Family Policy Councils - there is a Texas organization with which Citizen Link is affiliated: TexasLiberty InstituteMr. Kelly Shackelford, President2001 W. Plano Parkway Ste 1600 Plano, TX 75002 Phone: 972-941-4444Fax: 972-423-8899Email: info@freemarket.orgWeb site: www.freemarket.org I would recommend that she check out their website and get in touch with them.
Here are some other good websites:
http://stoptheabortionmandate.com/ - focuses on abortion as a part of the recently passed Health Care Bill,
http://40daysforlife.com/about.cfm?selected=welcome - started in College Station Texas, but is now nationwide, focuses on peaceful prayer vigils in front of Abortion Clinics, praying that hearts will be changed,
http://www.nrlc.org/ - National Right to Life, the oldest pro-life organization, they also have state affilliates, http://www.texasrighttolife.com/home.php - Texas Right to Life
She also might want to volunteer in a Crisis Pregnancy Center; she may find it fullfilling to save babies one at a time. She can look for a local CPC in the yellow pages of her phonebook by looking under Crisis Prregnancy OR Abortion Alternatives. They love volunteers and have good training programs for them. In Maryland, and maybe everywhere, most of the people involved in pro-life ministry (with the exception of Citizen Link and affilliates) are Roman Catholic. She shouldn't allow that to put her off, she will discover that there are actually some true Christians within the Catholic Church, and that she has more in common with them than differences. I hope that helps.
